Meet Mia F. – 2023 Grand Prize Winner, Individual Category
We are excited to celebrate Individual Category – Grand Prize Winner, Mia F!
Mia’s winning entry entitled, “Drawing the Line with AI” was an incredible showcase of creativity and determination. Encouraged by her partner, who participated in the 2021 contest, Mia was motivated to enter this year, confident in her animation skills.
The inspiration behind the video came from witnessing college friends, who aspire to work in the animation industry and panic about the impact of AI. Mia delved into our 2023 theme, discovering that AI is far from capable of taking over the industry completely. She aimed to convey that message through her video, which features unique human elements that AI could never replicate. The video not only included personal storytelling but also had friends act, making it undeniably human.
For future contestants, Mia shared this advice: “Do thorough research on the topic and study it hard. In this case, understanding what AI is, how it has been used, and its limitations were crucial. Staying focused and clear in your message is key to a compelling entry.” she also added, “Again, thank you so much for this opportunity! I was really worried that the fully-AI entry would win but seeing that the most viewed and liked video entries were the artistic human ones made me really happy to be in this creative field.”
Remarkably, apart from some acting and editing suggestions from friends and their partner, Mia handled everything herself. This dedication to her craft truly showed through in their work.
