2016 Entry
Internet hackers and scammers are everywhere. They prey on the innocent and come camouflaged as free game downloads, suspicious emails, and on some occasions, as large North American Gray Squirrels.
Of the few things I would change about the big beautiful Internet, the most relevant is Internet scamming. It benefits no one but the criminals that do it to turn a profit at the expense of others. The good news is, we can make that change, if we all try. If everyone were to learn how to identify and avoid scamming, it can be stopped. Internet scams live off of the attention they are given by unsuspecting users (and computers unprotected by anti-virus software), and if they are cut off from that, they can be beat.
So ignore all of those free smartphone offers, and don’t believe it when your computer tells you there are singles in your area looking for you, because we really can make the Internet a safer place – and the way to do it is to ignore those pesky scams to death.
