2014 Finalist
We feel an obligation as members of a technologically-driven society to educate rising generations about handling their online social life safely. Internet newbies must know that although social media has both social and technological benefits, there are drawbacks to be weary of. In the ‘me me me’ generation that we currently live in, more and more teenagers are falling into the trap of letting their social media profile & interactions determine their worth as a person. This open letter to social media highlights that the youth of our generation are more than capable of identifying the DO’s and DON’TS when it comes to the internet. If we aren’t careful while online, there is high potential that we could not only harm one another emotionally, but in the long run wind up hurting ourselves. We control social media, it does NOT control us!
