2017 Entry
The Internet is a fantastic medium used to connect people across seas, combining the knowledge of humanity. However, with this ease of communication, people are tempted to share things they have heard as facts, rather than as the rumours that they are.
The video conveys the difficulty to discover the veracity of things heard online. We demonstrate how quickly what is mistakenly interpreted as fact can distort reality. Furthermore, in our approach to the issue, we wish to clarify that rumours are not always born from malice and intent to harm, but simply through being misinformed.
In our video, we witness a young girl being transformed into a rumour, each new supposition piling on top of another until breaking point. Her image is transformed into someone she doesn’t recognize, and is nothing like her. This negatively affects her life, and could be prevented by her classmates simply waiting to meet her before passing judgements.
